It is not everyday I write such an advert. Cast your mind back to 1965 if you dare, or like me, maybe you were not born yet. Well, at Hamble Point Marina, at the mouth of the Hamble River in Southampton, this beautiful, now classic, Fairey Huntsman 28 rolled off the production line in June 1965. She was ready to head to her new home in Jersey, where she has remained to this day. Having been owned by some well-known Jersey families along the way. In 2008, my Father, Bob Wood and co-owner of South Pier Marine took on the project of restoring her. Named ‘Servilia’ she is Huntsman 28 # 64. She has sat on the hard for a few years previous & some freshwater damage was needing repair. The next 10 years, countless man hours later, and let’s not even talk about money spent, she is looking rather splendid again. From structure to painting, she has been gone through bow to stern. Hundreds of screws in the hull have painstakingly been replaced. Side deck reinforcement. New windscreens and windscreen surrounds, the list goes on and on. Pretty much every part of the boat has had work done. The engines were overhauled in our workshops and put back in the boat. She fires up instantly on the flick of the key. She is fitted with her original Perkins 6354 engines, which are pushing about 160hp each. The noise is just to die for & she is ready to be used. There are a few little personal choice cosmetic jobs, that could be done, inc. bits of trim and electronic navigation equipment of the owner’s choice.
She was re-wired and had a new galley fitted, along with a new WC. Totally re-upholstered throughout, along with new headlining and side linings. She has a Jersey long keel and drying legs.
If you would like to own a little bit of history that has been saved, from the decade that brought us the equally attractive E-Type Jag. Then this classic British built beauty really could be yours.
Please email Nick Wood. firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. She is currently lying ashore in our shed at South Pier Marine, St Helier, Jersey. She would be deemed VAT paid, due to her age.
